Mary Midgley Hanson

1891

In 1891, according to the census, Mary is living with parents Joshua Hanson (42) a corn miller, Mother Mary (42), sister Gertrude (17) a silk spreader, sister Elizabeth (12) a silk spinner, brother William (12), a steel hander, and brother Gilbert (2). Their residence is Workhouse Hill, Horsforth

The address given in the Census would suggest the family were living in a workhouse.

1899

George and Mary wed at the Parish Church Woodside on July 1st.

 

1901

According to the 1901 census Mary is now living with George at 129 Golden Bank, Horsforth Leeds. George is employed as a domestic gardener.

1910

In 1910, George and Mary are living at 118 Long Row and in receipt of Poor Rate of £6 16 shillings, property rented from ‘Miss Minnie , child of Mrs Scarborough.

1911

Mary is living in Long Row, Horsforth, Leeds, Yorkshire, along with husband George (30) who is working as a gardener, and daughter Ethel (8) and son John (5).

1930

Mary dies aged just 49.
