John Allanach was born on 27th January 1871 in Lancashire. His father, James, was 30 and his mother, Hariet, was 28. He married Aloma Allanach on 20 August 1892 in Horsforth, Yorkshire. They had four children in 14 years. He died in 1946 in Horsforth, Yorkshire, at the age of 75.

John Allanach was born on 21 September 1799 in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, to Isobel Grassick and William Allanach. I have been unable to locate ‘Glenmonry’ which is detailed as the place of birth.

John is 2 months when he is included on the 1871 census, living at the Railway station Hornby Lancashire together with father James (30), Mother Hariet (28) and brother Samuel (2).

1881
The 1881 census shows John living with his parents as a schoolboy at the station house in Calverley Horsforth.
1891
A change of circumstances by the time of the 1891 census. John’s father has now absconded to Montana, and he now aged 20 lives with mother Hariet working as a shift dryer.
1901
By 1901 John still lives in West End Horsforth, but is now married and working as a cotton dryer.
1911
John now has a growing family and has moved to 23 Summersgill Square in Horsforth.
