When George Herbert Allanach was born in 1881 in Hasland, Derbyshire, his father, James, was 40 and his mother, Hariet, was 38. He married Mary Midgley Allanach on 1 July 1899 in Woodside, Yorkshire. They had two children during their marriage. He died on 13 May 1939 in Leeds, Yorkshire, at the age of 58
