The 1891 census shows Arthur to be living at 5 Walker Terrace, Monk Bretton together with Mother Mary (42, Widower, ‘living on her own means’), brother James (22), brother William (19), sister Kate (2), and a boarder Vincent Lawton (51), a colliery clerk.

1901

The 1901 census shows Arthur to be living at 61 Park Grove Barnsley, along with his Mother Mary  (52 and a widower), brother William (29), sister Eliza Jane (26), and sister Kate (26).

The 1911 Census shows Arthur to be living at 46 Park Grove, Barnsley, along with his sister Kate (28) and mother Mary (62).

When Arthur Allanach signed up to the Canadian Overseas Forces in May 1915 in Edmonton, he was working as a Stenographer

A London trade directory lists Arthur as working at 38/39 Parliament Street SW1 as a timber merchant.
